Childcare is critical to the success and sustainability of our communities. There are several resources available to support these businesses and their employees to ensure that they are able to continue to meet the needs of the Madelia area.

City of Madelia: Pride of the Prairie

Madelia Child Care Start-Up/Expansion Grant Program

The City of Madelia will provide grants up to $2,500 for new or current providers to increase the number of child care slots. Review the policy to determine eligible expenses.

CDA RLF 

The CDA Credential RLF through the St. James EDA provides funding for the Watonwan County child care workforce to obtain their CDA Credential. See the St. James EDA website for more information.

Family Child Care Start-Up Forgivable Loan Program

The Watonwan County Family Child Care Start-Up Forgivable Loan Program provides an incentive to start a new family child care service in Watonwan County. The program provides a matching forgivable loan for actual expenses relating to the cost of opening a family child care business in Watonwan County, up to $5,000 per provider.
