City Hall (507) 642-3245

Start/Stop Utility Service:

  • If you are moving into the city limits,  please notify City Hall at least 14 days prior to move.
  • For new community members, please fill out the Utility Service Application and return to the front desk at City Hall. You will then be given a “Welcome Packet” with additional important information. There is a $100.00 meter deposit required when setting up new services along with a copy of your valid ID.
  • Utility Billing includes water, sewer, refuse, and tax. Recycling is billed by Watowan County on your yearly property tax statement.
  • If you are moving out, a final date is required along with a forwarding address at least 14 days prior to move out so a meter read-out can be ordered for the move-out date. A final bill will be sent to the forwarding address.

Utility Payments:

  • Bills are due the 18th of every month. Bills not paid on time will receive a 10% penalty.
  • We accept cash, check, MasterCard, and Visa as forms of payment.
  • Bills can be paid at the front desk of City Hall during office hours or placed in the drop box.
  • Pay by phone: (507) 642-3245
  • Avoid late fees and set up Auto-pay. Complete the application and drop it off at city hall along with a voided check.

Temporary Suspension of Utility Services

To qualify for suspension of services, residents must intend to be vacant from the property for a minimum of 30 days. Payment must be made to suspend services at the time of application. City offices require notification of at least seven (7) business days in advance for your return to ensure your water and/or sewer services are reconnected. Keep in mind that someone must be at the residence in order for services to be restored. If you have questions regarding suspensions, please call city hall.

Application Fees:

  • $50.00

Water and Sewer services can be suspended in one of two ways:

  1. Water service can be turned off at the curb. A one-time, $50 fee must be paid via check or cash only, and will cover disconnection and reconnection of service upon your return.
  2. Water can remain on at the residence.  The minimum monthly water and sewer charges will continue to be billed as long as no water is consumed.  If any water passes through the meter, regular billing will automatically resume.
